Come join the Alachua County Property Appraiser’s Office as the Public Service Representative! This position will be responsible for answering inbound calls, as well as providing an exceptional in-person guest experience for walk- in customers.
The Tangible Personal Property Appraiser will be expected to value tangible personal property for ad valorem appraisal purposes with an emphasis on the review of the financial records of larger and more complex accounts.
This position will also act as a liaison for the Property Appraiser’s office by working with all departments to help advance the organization’s strategic plan to produce a fair and equitable tax roll for the Alachua County community.
The ideal candidate will have a general understanding of contracts, leases, trust documents, corporate records, legal descriptions, deeds, mortgage documents, closing statements, and other related documents used for property tax exemption purposes.
Assisting with the Alachua County Property Appraiser’s Community Outreach initiative to proudly educate the public about our responsibility of placing a fair, equitable, and just value on all tangible personal property in Alachua County will be one of the key responsibilities for this role.
*ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: *
* Examine the financial records of businesses to verify account information and conduct physical inspections of tangible personal property.
Enter information into the CAMA database and on the application forms and process the required documents according to the established procedure.
* Review various records and resources to verify that values are uniform and reflect fair market value.
* Utilize available information sources to identify new businesses s well as businesses which has sold, closed, or experienced other changes during the preceding year.
* Calculate value of taxable tangible personal property using information provided on tangible personal property tax returns.
* Investigate inquiries and complaints concerning value; confer with property owners or their legal representatives to explain methods, procedures, and policies with respect to the value placed on tangible personal property tax returns.
* Assist other departments, when necessary.
*MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: *
* High School Diploma or GED.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business administration, finance, economics, accounting, or related field.
Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience or four or more years in customer services with extensive data entry experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $43,000.
