Reporting to the Director of OAS, the Assistant Director (AD) will oversee the coordination of academic support programs, services, and activities for student participants.
This administrative role involves managing the day-to-day operations, including academic advising, educational planning, tutoring services, supplemental instruction, retention initiatives, coaching, and other services aligned with OAS goals.
OAS is within the Office of Undergraduate Affairs (OUA), is the oldest student support services unit at UF and has been serving UF student populations since 1986.

Position Description: The OAS-AD's primary responsibilities include administration and coordinating academic support services and programs.
This position manages the daily operation of the program, supervises team members and coordinates projects and services.
These services include but are not limited to financial literacy, academic enrichment workshops, advising, coaching, tutoring and other activities related to increasing graduation and retention rates of student participants as a part of our student success strategies.
There are layers of programs under the OAS umbrella that provide leadership and further development for student participants.
The AD position is at the forefront of OAS and requires high engagement with faculty, staff, and students.
Other administrative responsibilities encompass partnering and communicating with internal and external stakeholders to connect our students to resources and opportunities existing across large and diversified institutions.
These interactions also focus on enhancing awareness and promoting our programs and services to facilitate referrals and improve the student participant's overall undergraduate experience.
The AD should be able to convey purpose, objectives, and performance outcomes and represent the unit at conferences, meetings, and on and off-campus events.
Additionally, this position maintains and develops partnerships within the divisions of Academic and Student Affairs, academic advisors, faculty and staff within the various colleges, Student Financial Aid, Career Connection Center (CCC), Disability Resource Center (DRC), Admissions, Center for New Student and Family Engagement, etc.
to foster a holistic support system.
Roles and Responsibilities: • Effective and efficient project management: • Coordinate and implement academic support programs and services, including educational enrichment workshops, advising, tutoring, mentoring/coaching, orientations, assemblies, graduate school and career preparation and other events.
• Serve as a resource and liaison between students and the Office of Enrollment Management, which includes Student Financial Services and Admissions, Student Affairs, Housing and other campus support units or departments.
• Serve as part of the OAS management team, supervising the day-to-day operations, providing leadership development and training • Ensure the fulfillment of program objectives • Work with college advisors and program advising liaisons to secure academic advising for participants • Assist in strategic planning, programming, and budgeting; coordinate and execute academic interventions for participants • Maintain a student caseload, meeting directly with participants for academic and life coaching sessions • Oversight of the monitoring and tracking of students' academic progress, which includes coordinating with ASCs to review academic progress reports, provide feedback as part of the academic intervention plans, and other outreach activities • Acting in accordance with the university's academic policy and procedures to provide general guidance, which includes appropriate referrals to assist students in resolving issues and concerns • Coordinate and implement assessment plans, which may consist of analyzing student data, creating learning outcomes and performance measures • Management and maintenance of student records, data and academic progress to generate reports • Co-manage OAS peer leaders and coaching staff • Plan and coordinate OAS training for Academic Success and Peer Coaches • Co-lead OAS Advisory Committee meetings • Perform other duties as assigned to help develop and further the mission and expansion of OAS.
• Direct and co-supervision which includes Academic Program Specialist, Academic Success Coaches, Peer Leaders, and student volunteers • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director that may include special projects or assisting with grant proposals The City of Gainesville is home to Florida's largest and oldest university, making it one of the state's centers of education, medicine, and athletics.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with students from diverse cultures and populations.
Self-motivated individual proficient in planning and implementing student success initiatives designed to accomplish the goals and objectives of the program.
Experience working with first-generation, low-income or underrepresented students.
Master's degree in higher education with three years of post-graduate experience or a doctoral degree with one year of post-graduate experience.
Training in student development, emphasizing mentoring or leadership programming.
Experience in program assessment and grant writing.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in coaching, leadership and student development.
