Full-time, entry-level Software Engineer I position available on-site in Gainesville, Florida
Description
Be part of a fast-paced team within the IT department that develops, documents, tests, and maintains a wide array of software including web, mobile, and desktop customer -facing applications, along with internal server, desktop, and web systems to support our exam-prep products.
Responsibilities
Our projects vary widely in scope and technology, but essentially you will be doing these types of tasks on a day-to-day basis:
Maintain and improve the functionality of existing software and products.
Develop and maintain project documentation
Work on defined features from senior software developers
Provide rapid iteration/support/fixes for customer-facing issues
Complete frontend and backend development tasks with minimal oversight
Skills and Proficiencies
Proficiency with general software development principles
Understanding of common software design patterns
Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work closely with team members
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Good organizational skills
Strong attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization or degree or work experience equivalency
Experience with Linux a plus
PHP, JavaScript, C+
Experience with version control systems / Git workflow
