gov DESCRIPTION This is work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Inspects and tests machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
Dismantles and reassembles defective machines and equipment.
Installs new or repaired parts.
Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
Installs and/or repairs wiring and electrical and electronic components.
Assembles, installs, and/or repairs pipe systems and hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
Installs machinery and equipment.
Sets up and operates machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
Records repairs made and costs.
Estimates costs of repairs.
Responds to repairs for emergency firefighting equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to install equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
Ability to repair machines or systems using the needed tools.
Knowledge of performing routine maintenance and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
Ability to troubleshoot by determining what is causing an operating error and deciding what to do about it.
Knowledge of determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
Knowledge of conducting tests to determine whether equipment, software, or procedures are operating as expected.
Ability to inspect and evaluate the quality of products.
Knowledge of controlling operations of equipment or systems.
Knowledge of watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
Ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the appropriate tools to construct objects, structures, and buildings.
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repairs, and maintenances.
Knowledge of equipment, tools, mechanical devices, and their uses to produce motion, light, power, technology, and other applications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Have experience operating lawn mowing equipment, power tools and plumbing equipment.
Be agreeable to working a flex schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
Extended hours and on-call may also be required.
Additional preference will be given to candidates with two years of experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings, plumbing or electrical or mechanical equipment; or Vocational/technical training in mechanical repair or one of the building trades can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

Licenses that have Corrective Lenses Restriction are acceptable, provided the driver wears corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.
