Job Opening Summary
Provide ongoing support for the UF Health network environment (local and wide area networks for voice, data and video services).
Responsibilities include installation and support of network equipment, such as switches, routers and fiber/copper interconnects; port configuration; UPS; performance monitoring to ensure stability and integrity of the data, voice, video and wireless networks; adherence to the network security policies; problem identification and resolution; and network documentation.
Other duties could include assisting with IP administration functions and third-party software installation/configuration, performing the role of network project assistant on assigned projects and support initiatives and actively participating in project teams.
This position may be required to access confidential data in order to perform job responsibilities.
On-call support responsibilities are required.
Job Opening Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
An associate's degree in computer science, information technology or related technical areas and one year of experience in network design, implementation and support is required or three years of applicable experience is required.
Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
The following is desirable and considered a plus:
Any combination of education, training and network certifications (such as those offered through Cisco Systems, BICSI).
Hands-on experience with the following products: router/switch network hardware and operating systems, wireless and VoIP and network monitoring and support tools (such as Cisco, Statseeker and Fluke analyzers).
Must have demonstrated the ability to determine the level of effort and time required to complete tasks, complete tasks within the assigned timeline and work cooperatively in a team environment with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
