The Merritt lab in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Post-Doctoral Associate to join our dynamic research team specializing in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) based metabolic imaging with a focus on deuterated substrates used as contrast agents.
The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of MRI technology and metabolic imaging.
This position offers a unique opportunity to advance our understanding of metabolic processes using state-of-the-art imaging techniques.
Responsibilities: Research Design and Implementation: Develop and implement experimental protocols for MRI studies using deuterated substrates.
Design and optimize imaging sequences to enhance sensitivity and resolution in metabolic imaging.
Data Acquisition and Analysis: Conduct MRI experiments with deuterated substrates and acquire high-quality imaging data.
Perform advanced data analysis using relevant software tools to extract meaningful information related to metabolic processes.
Methodology Development: Contribute to the development of novel methodologies and techniques for improved sensitivity and specificity in metabolic imaging with deuterated substrates.
Stay abreast of the latest advancements in MRI technology and deuterated substrate applications.
Collaboration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicists, chemists, and biologists, to integrate expertise and perspectives for comprehensive research outcomes.
Engage in scientific discussions, present findings at meetings, and contribute to collaborative publications.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed and organized records of experimental procedures, results, and analyses.
Prepare reports, manuscripts, and presentations for internal discussions and external scientific conferences.

in a relevant field (e.

, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline).
Strong background in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) techniques and metabolic imaging.
Experience with deuterated substrate applications in MRI is highly desirable.
Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in MRI data analysis (e.
g.
, MATLAB, Python).
Demonstrated ability to independently design and execute experiments.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
